What makes an institution worthy of the future?
A long-term investigation into how institutions remain trusted, resilient and valuable in an age of artificial intelligence, technological change and increasing complexity.
Founded by Andrew Adelowokan, a UK-based chartered accountant and researcher.
The Question
We know how to measure financial performance.
- Revenue
- Profit
- Capital
- Liquidity
- Growth
But institutions find it much harder to answer another question:
Where are AI, technology, operational weakness and organisational complexity creating, protecting or destroying economic value?
This question sits at the centre of my current research.
I’m beginning with financial institutions because few organisations sit at the intersection of so many consequential forces: capital, technology, regulation, trust, risk and societal importance.
The objective is not simply to understand how institutions survive disruption.
It is to investigate how they remain trusted, adaptive, capable and valuable as the world around them changes.
The work begins with reading, interviews and field observation — gathering evidence before anything else.
Why
Institutions shape ordinary life.
Banks safeguard savings, allocate capital, finance homes and businesses and support the functioning of economies.
Universities preserve and create knowledge.
Companies organise people and capital around problems worth solving.
Public institutions provide much of the infrastructure upon which society depends.
When institutions work, we rarely think about them.
When they fail, the consequences reach far beyond the organisation itself.
How do we leave the next generation with stronger institutions than the ones we inherited?
The Resilient Institution is my attempt to contribute to that question.

Mountains to Markets

In August 2026, the research leaves the desk.
Expedition 001 marks the beginning of a planned long-term programme of field research, interviews, observation, writing, photography and documentary work exploring institutions in the environments in which they operate.
The journey begins in the Canadian Rockies before moving through financial and technological centres across North America.

The Researcher
Andrew Adelowokan
CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT · RESEARCHER · FOUNDER
I’m a UK-based chartered accountant with a growing fascination for institutions, leadership, technology and the forces shaping the future of finance.
My background in accounting taught me to think about organisations through value, evidence, governance, performance and decision-making.
Over time, one question became increasingly difficult to ignore:
Why are organisations extraordinarily sophisticated at measuring financial performance, yet often much less capable of measuring institutional strength?
That question became The Resilient Institution.
I’m now beginning a long-term programme of reading, research, interviews, writing and international fieldwork exploring how institutions remain trusted, effective and resilient as artificial intelligence and technological change accelerate.
Outside the research, my interests include travel, sports, photography, filmmaking, languages, books, music, exploring different cultures and snowboarding on occasion.
I feel these interests align and have shaped the wider project rather than being something entirely separate from it.
Travel changes perspective.
Photography teaches observation.
Writing clarifies thought.
And serious questions are often better understood by leaving the desk.

I’m particularly interested in conversations with people working across financial institutions, artificial intelligence, operational resilience, technology, governance, academia and public policy.
